Thought Field Therapy was originally known as the Callahan Technique and was discovered and developed by Doctor Roger Callahan as early as the 1970’s in the USA. He was pioneer in behavioural and cognitive methods of psychology in the 1950’s, and he discovered that many people came to him with issues, which seemed to have, what he described, as a Thought Field attached to them.
A simple example might be someone who has fear of spiders, when asked to imagine a spider, would attach many other ideas at once to that image, such as the feel of a spider on their skin, the colour of the spider, places they had seen a spider, mistaken ideas of what harm a spider could actually do to them etc. This is the Thought Field attached to that fear. A client is asked to think about the problem they wish to deal with and rate it’s severity.
Dr Callahan found through his research, that a system of tapping important points on body in order, whilst accessing that Thought Field, seemed to have an amazing success rate in lowering this score, and curing these problems. Callahan also found that subjects who took a little longer to reach a succeccful outcome were being affected by other elements in their environment, such as many of those , which cause what we commonly known as allergies.
Another advantage of this therapy is, that once learned, the sequences can be carried out at home and applied to other problems as well.
